Aynho Wharf to Pig Place

Spent 3 weeks at Aynho Wharf. Perhaps a week more than I should have, but it appears no-one is counting. Anyhow, yesterday, I moved on. New Job…. At Amazon…. Working in the warehouse that provides the parcels that make up the delivery routes I do for Amazon Flex. It’s a 5am start, then 8 hours handling parcels and shipments bound for the Midlands area. Not a lot to it: Sort parcels when they arrive off lorries and log them on…

Mooring at Aynho Wharf

Not a bad stop. Close to the amenities. I tend to moor away from the road, probably 2 min walk up the towpath which suits me better. You get better solar, the mobile signal is better and you don’t get intrusions from the odd idiot coming over the bridge beeping their horn. As I wake up, I can look out across the field. The sound of the trains are blocked by the industrial units which stand between me and the…

Kings Lock to Aynho Wharf

20 miles, most of it on the canal. Bowled up at Aynho Wharf at about 6.30pm. Started at about 9.15am. A long day. Felt tired. Beer Had a beer to celebrate. One picture today, that’s heading up the post. Bonnie in London So that’s it for ‘Bonnie in London‘. In the end, my return journey took me from Wednesday afternoon until Sunday night. 4 1/2 days. I estimate that I saved In Hotel Accommodation from booking.com: 17 nights – Cheapest…

Somerton and 9 hours in Aynho

My time in Somerton Meadows finished. What a pretty place it is. Whilst walking back to pick the car up on my first night. I took these photos. I’ve not seen a glow-worm in the UK for years. These were just under the railway bridge on the towpath close to Heyford. When you pick them up, they’re about the size of a wasp! They don’t sting like one though, they were fairly docile. I put him back on his leaf…

Twyford Wharf -> Amazon Flex

Or just outside. My winter workplace, Amazon is about 300m from where I am moored now… It’s very muddy here, which is why I didn’t come down here when I was starting at Amazon just over the road. Glad I didn’t. Negotiating the mud takes in cold wet etc. is difficult. 15 minutes in the car is easy. Pig Place Didn’t stay at Pig Place. I was in two minds when I arrived. Walking at 4am in the morning. 5-7…

Bogus CRT overstay

Last week, I got falsely accused of overstaying by the Canal and River Trust enforcement officers. Moving every 14 days As we know, I’ve been making a point of doing this since I got moved onto 6 monthly. The CRT sent me this email on the 12th, saying I hadn’t moved. Our Ref: BONNIE LADYYour Ref: ******** Dear Michael Tyler, RE: BONNIE LADY (*******) Let’s keep our waterways flowing Using our previous working days’ sightings, it looks like your boat may have…

Pigging out

Yeah? On salad. Besides that, I’m trying to move during the prescribed time-frames for continuous cruisers. That’s meant two weeks only, then on to the next one. This year, I have to travel further, right the way down 22 miles from where I started in March. Pig turn It’s usually around this area that I think about turning around and heading back up. Not so this time, I’m thinking more about what lies beyond my terminal stop, Aynho Wharf, the…
