Yalong Bay – Xi’an

Caught a flight from Yalong Bay to Xi’an from the local airport, Sanya Phoenix Airport about 20 minutes half an hour by taxi.

This was just short of a ton for a 2 hour flight. Changing at Guangzhou which is the Southern Base for China Southern Airlines, decked out like Stansted in an open plan style maximising free space for retail.
Even had a department store downstairs.

Mutten
Had a decent meal in the department store eatery. Mutten, fresh vegetables and beansprouts where the girl tried to charge me for a sealed face wipe.

Dumb westerner.

Yalong Bay – Diving at Yalong Bay

For this reason, there are a number of diving opportunities at Yalong Bay at price ranges. For example, at my hotel the charge was 560 yen.
For that I got an hour in the water, snorkeling gear, flippers, rock slippers etc plus an individual following me round taking pictures with an underwater camera.

Docks
Venture further down the coast, toward the docks area where you will find a greater range of options, more keen pricing and more Chinese.

THe reason for Yalong Bay’s existance, if not its popularity, is the nature reserve listing of the coral reef site which is a feature on this part of Hainan island.

The Yalong Bay section is the least affected by afflictions of polution, fishing and general plundering of corals.

Tourism has become part of the economic-ecosystem which has insured the reefs continuation and the rules and regulations in the wider environment.

Soft Corals

Yalong Bay Sanya is of particular interest because of it’s soft coral diversity.
