Near Leighton Buzzard.
I’ve had to move down a bit. The boat was needing to be moved. I managed to stay in the town for about a month, but I sent the CRT an overstay request. I put ‘pet bereavement’ as my reason for overstay. It was the closest I could find. I believe that buys you a couple of extra weeks.
Before I moved down, I walked down to check it all out. This heron was sat on the towpath up by the locks just coming out of town…
You could got right up to it, it didn’t seem bothered. When you get real close, it flies around you and goes back to looking at fish!
I went past it today on the bike and it didn’t even move. Just sat there looking at me…
Leighton Buzzard
Didn’t really go out whilst I was there. On the first weekend, the weather was pretty bad, and on the second weekend, I was elsewhere, so… No nights out on the town. Besides, I wouldn’t really have known where to go.
After talking to a couple of people, I’ve got a slightly better idea now.
I’ve moved down though. Now I’m out of town…
It’s approximately 2.2 miles to Leighton from here. So within cycling distance.

This is the nearest pub to me. That’s about a mile away. Might drop in there over the weekend. We’ll see what the weather does.
Bike repairs
Have been made to the point where the poor old bike is functioning, at least enough for short rides.
It’ll need a new wheel. That’s my general opinion, and that of others familiar with the matter. Nowadays, people don’t really mess around with the bearings.
I will look into it further before I make a decision, but for now, it’s working for the essential errands. Nothing more.
Mooring
I’m moored up near to the railway-line, which is usually a no-no for me.
After the windows and the additional soundproofing, I can hear little or nothing of trains, except when they hoot their horns.

The phone signal is good, the solar isn’t bad, only problem being there isn’t much sun.
It’s not too bad, and quite.

Job search
I’m starting to get onto this jobsearch business.
People on the radio say use linked-in. I’ve been playing around with that over the last few days.
This morning it kind of dawned on me that linked-in would be a complete was of time for me. I’ve not really had a career, of any meaningful sort. Linked-in’s whole business model is based on careers and contacts. Relative to the amount of effort I’d need to put in, I’m convinced that trying to portray a polished image and a lot of contacts and acumen careerwise will be time wasted.
I don’t fit in the neat boxes linked-in has ready prepared to shift effortlessly from one similar role to another.
I’m going to have to look at roles there are out there and sell myself into them. That is after all one of my skills. Selling.
I have been using AI a little to re-jig and jazz up my CV.
The jobs market is tough. I’m going to have to manifest myself in a form for maximum impact. Like a superhero…
I’ve got all the time in the world. We’ll see what happens.
