“There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living,” “Difficulties break some men but make others. No axe is sharp enough to cut the soul of a sinner who keeps on trying, one armed with the hope that he will rise even in the end.” “If I had my time over I would do the same again. So would any man who dares call himself a man.” “Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.” “A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.”
Are you not a Blairite? – Leading us all where the vision took us. Blurring the boundaries between black and white, rich and poor, right and wrong, etc. etc.
Looking back at it, all Blairism has left us with is a legacy of one party politics. Crossing the boundaries. No left no right.
I can only see that his great legacy and departure from traditional labour values and adoption of ‘new‘ values has been the destruction of democracy itself.
Yesterday after work, I started experiencing severe pain in my lower abdomen. Whilst driving home, my arms started to tingle and I wanted to vomit.
Took this as a sign that I was feeling crook, and it would be better to take the rest of the day off.
Bad oil
Initially, though it might be bad cooking oil. The Chinese have a habit of fishing cooking oil out of the drains and re-using it to cook street-food.
Also, there was a flu bug I had. Wasn’t really sure what it was. Anyhow. Went to the hospital with workmate Dan.
Hospital
2 day wait to find out about stomach. Skipped that and got on my bike and went to another hospital, got an ultrasound 80 yuan. Then the gave me some drips, another 80 yuan and finally some pills 40 yuan.
It was actually an eye hospital, but they put me in there anyway. Girls were quite friendly.
They put three drips in over the course of 2 hours. Afterward I felt ok. …
Spent the day at the world gaming conference which basically consisted of a load of nerds and girls dressed up in bunny costumes.
Got some of the girls in bunny costumes on film so read on.
Entrance
Place was jammed. The queue was at least two hours long when I got there.
Being from England this presents a great opportunity to doff one’s cap in a mustn’t grumble manner.
So I queued for 45 minutes.
Very nice experience. Chatting to some Australian teacher. Works at web English and his Chinese friends all very nice.
When I got in eventually, this was like a large explosion in my head, almost indescribable.
Anyway, got there in the end.
The whole event was being staged at the Conference Center in Kunshan. Two buildings. Large and modern with all the character of a pair of grain silos. Still. Hung out in there for a little while.
Bought a MURLOCK!
He’s looking to grow a little perhaps. Seems a bit anemic at the moment. Got him from the Warcraft Tent. They had lot’s of bits and pieces in there which seemed familiar to me from back in my Warcraft days.
Couldn’t resist the Murlock. They have a kind of legendary status in Warcraft. Maybe the first thing you’re going to do is get into a fight with some Murlocks. They’re pretty useless really.
This one is a baby Murlock. He wouldn’t do any serious damage to my warlock!
Hung out in the players lounge.
Didn’t realise at first. Thought it was a TV behind the stage for official types. It was only when the people got up onto that stage. I’d been sitting and chatting with these people that were the competitors for the past hour or so.
Met a friend
That I used to play badminton with.
Didn’t remember exactly what it was I said to her. She said it was a good one liner anyhow. Didn’t recognise her at first.
All in all a good day.
Even though I’m not massively into gaming anymore found it pretty good to wander around and came home feeling pretty glad I’d gone even though the shocking reputation gamers have. They are not to be shunned, some are normal people. I mean who doesn’t play games on their mobile phone??
Tablets are just made for games, judging by the popularity of the event, games are a guilty pleasure that people just don’t want to admit they’d had. (Like this girl on the right). …
Finding it all stressful, so have booked flight to relax and recover.
This flight will be taking me to Thailand for the New Year.
I got it from Spring Airlines which is a new airline in Shanghai.
Having checked on the forum before , the reports are not all good. Ryanair for Chinese.
If that draws pictures in the mind. I will be reporting them.
My itinerary includes slightly more expensive seats. Around £15 more. Apart from that it’s the bog standard, lowest grade ticket.
It’s not transferable or refundable.
I’m looking forward to some time away.
If you’ve got any advice for Thailand, let me know. (People tell me the monkeys are a danger to everyone!)
When man stands not to act by his own volition, but only act through bullying or duress! When man remains not true to himself, but to be tempted by money or financial reward! When man’s own nature takes second place to the domination of others!
These times are upon us!
Iran is the final non-conformer! Once they are beaten, the world is ours! No man will be able to stand!
Free will will be beaten!
We will own God!
All will bow before us!
Give up your reasoning. Give up your education. Give up your instinct.
Priced at just 1,200 Yuan, or around £140 it seemed pretty cheap for a Toshiba tablet.
1st day of use, I discover there is no apps store and Google Play Store isn’t installed. Nor is any other app store.
Next step! Root the AT200! Get the Google Apps installed and have the thing do what I want.
Shock Horror!
Toshiba have something written into their EULA! Yes Toshiba and Android have conspired against the customer!
Contrary to previous court rulings on allowing users UNRESTRICTED access to their devices, in this case you aren’t granted those rights. Toshiba will not let you access and change core aspects of this tablet.
You don’t have the rights and abilities you might have when you buy a new PC.
Can’t add or alter things in the operating system, making it useless for many developers and professional level users.
Let this be a warning to any buyers of the Toshiba Excite AT.
Nice looking tablet. Without full user rights.
Suitable for me so
/grumble over
