Taizhou Bi-lingual School

So here’s some pictures from the new school…

I’m trying to get one of the teachers to give me a tour of the full campus. At the moment, I’ve only seen the lower school. Most of the pictures are from the middle school, where the sports hall, stadium, sports ground and the rest of facilities are.

No-one has given me a tour yet, although it was promised.

The teachers

The school seems fine. The teachers are a little shitty. One of the British guys phoned me on Friday to ask me if I “was on medication”, I simply refused to answer.

Today, the foreign teacher coordinator Flora, wouldn’t say hello to me.

So I’ve been made to feel welcome. Maybe I won’t be here too long.

New School. Taizhou, Zhejiang province

Started at my new school, Taizhou international school, Zhejiang province.

It’s a middle and lower school. Probably about 2,000 pupils.

Have had my first few days.

Apartment

Here’s some pictures of the apartment.

The school provide it free.

It’s big. Not much in the area. I’m using a bike to get around.

The internet here is painfully slow. Things that in England might take 20 minutes, here take 3 hours.

Just getting your simplest internet done is like the biggest chore.

You may as well read a book or do something else.

Timescales and costs involved in getting a Chinese Z-VISA in the UK.

1) Getting a CRC (Criminal Record Check) for an Individual in the UK

The first document you’re going to require – CRC or Criminal Record Check. Background check. Whatever.

In the UK this document is surrounded by Bureaucracy and red-tape. Arranging one for an individual is ‘not possible’, they can only be done for organisations.

This is a lie. Of the many people I spoke to, they all told me this. “You need to be from a company”.

This is to prevent individuals abusing their lack of criminal record, like you might abuse your medical records… I guess…. But in the UK, it’s very important that the only people to KNOW you’re not a criminal are companies. You cannot be trusted with the truth.

That’s what they tell you.

It’s actually a lie. I guess, to make money.

You need to go the right website https://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/. This site will give you a background or criminal record check for the UK.

The site will provide any individual with a basic disclosure about their criminal records as held on file by the UK police service.

This disclosure is now a requirement for any UK national wishing to take up a teaching position.

Total time 5 days.

Hanping Chinese Camera - china-app
1) Hanping Camera

Takes pictures of text and converts them to English language. Used it quite helpfully on the train to Guangdong, it will have problems if your phone doesn’t have a good camera or if you’ve got shaky hands.
I went through the entire interpretation of the Chinese menu with a Chinese girl, and it got them all correct.
Can’t be bad!
