Ouzoud Falls

Day off recovering at one of the billed attractions, Ouzoud Falls.

Monkey girl at ouzoud falls

Well, my leg seems to be recovering well. Today I only had a little light exercise walking around the falls.

My hotel

Casba oum Hani d'ouzoud

Is comfortably located with a stunning view across the valley. In the morning I awoke to the sun rising behind the mountains, gradually lighting up the terrace outside my room as it rose.

Sunrise over the mountains

Not bad for £20 per night (with breakfast!).

Clean air feels great.

During the course of the morning, I did a little catching up with computer things and went to the pharmacy to find out about a bandage.

Bandages

The guy had two types, a standard dressing type of bandage, and an elasticated sports bandage.

The second type is the type that’s required. It’s kind of a ligament strain that comes and goes. Seeing as I won’t be needing it until I start moving again, I put that purchase off a little. My leg has been improving and it would be better to get something that’s going to work and be reusable, like a proper joint compact. I didn’t understand some of the French on the label. It looked like velcro but said ‘adhesive’.

I’m moving on to a large town tomorrow. We’ll see if I can get something I want there.

The falls

All very pleasant. Not thronging with tourists as I had been expecting. Not too polluted either. Still fish and frogs in the river and the place wasn’t covered in plastic bags.

There were a few Europeans and Western types. Not as many as I’d been expecting seeing as this is billed as one of the main excursions from Marrakech.

Took some nice photos. Chatted with a few locals. Didn’t buy anything. Currently trying to offload baggage rather than buy any more.

  1. Looks wonderful. Glad to hear the knee is better. A good idea to leave buying the bandage until you reach a large town. It is always lovely to wake up in a beautiful place….midn you your do that much of the time on Bonnie……but it’s not warm and sunny though…hope your journey today is not so taxing for the knee. Enjoy!
