Whilton -> Braunston

I’ve been here two weeks, but only just moved onto my ‘winter moorings’ today.

It doesn’t look to great at the moment, but the boat in front is moving along, so I’ll get his spot.

It’s brighter, with a view through the trees at Braunston Church.

Braunston vs Devizes

Devizes, where I winter moored last year, was right in the middle of a town.

This is on the outskirts of a village, along with one other person. In Devizes, there were at least 5 others.

Braunston is a historic village. Although I’ve not researched the level of this, architecture points to the fact that there was a diverse and specialised workforce, mostly supported by the canal. Continue reading “Whilton -> Braunston”

Dodford -> Whilton

Skipping Muscott, made my way to Whilton, a short distance away from the marina.

As always, I’ve tried to moor in the sun.

I like to wake up in the morning and see as much sunshine as possible.
Same goes throughout the day.
As well as that, it keeps the solar charging :)

Weedon -> Dodford

Or nr. Dodford.

It’s a pleasant spot.

I’ve been here over a week, but because my phone’s not been working, I’ve not been taking pictures.

So here we are.

Home for a week.

Postal service have been stealing my sim cards, as well as all my other mail.

They’ve had over 5 items off me.

Some of them of value.

I’m going to be reporting them to the Police.

Astra h 1.8i 16v sri chip

Was doing a search last night. I was looking into getting a new ‘chip’ fitted to my new Astra sri.

Here’s research I did using two of the top search engines.

Duck duck go

I’d turned up a few results on duck-duck-go. Looked like this:

As you can see, there’s about 6 results there that match my search phrase.

Now check the Google results. Continue reading “Google index is now spam”

Non-slip adhesive matting and other jobs

Non-slip adhesive matting

Took me about 2 months to get hold of this stuff. It’s a large sheet of non-slip adhesive matting for the roof of the narrowboat.

It’s like gunwhale tape. But much fatter.

It’s got and adhesive back.

It takes 3 people to fit this sheet. I know because I did it with 1 person, and it’s completely full of bubbles. You need a roller also, to be fair. This stuff will tear your hands apart if you try and smooth it with your hand, or anything with else for that matter. You need to lay it with 2…… and roll it with one!

Too late now.

Fairleads

Simple 5mm tapping out into the roof.

Got some medium thread lock and put it onto the zinc bolts.

Felt fairly happy about the finish.

Battery bank

Finally added the two batteries to the battery bank.

Now got a full complement of batteries. Fit for watching TV on cold winter nights in front of the fire.
