Oak Hill – Dun Aqueduct

Just at the other side of the canal, the River Dun winds it’s way through the valley, separating the canal from the railway.

I dropped some fish in there the other day.

It’s a chalk/gravel stream with a small indigenous population of brown trout.

You can see, it’s quite deep and it’s registered as one of the UK’s gravel streams of which there are 210 chalk world, and 160 of those are in England. Continue reading “Oak Hill – Dun Aqueduct”

Oak Hill

A couple of pictures from ‘oak hill’.

It’s got a much nicer vibe than Little Bedwyn.

The pound hasn’t emptied out. There seems to be a lagoon outside my window and a view down to the River Dunn, which I went down to today.

I’m going to take some pictures next time I venture down there, it seems rather pretty.

Like John Everett’s Ophelia.

I’ll take some pictures next time I’m down there.

BBC fake weather reports

I know.

It’s not a new thing.

Am confined to my quarters today.

The forecast is bad, but the weather has only shown spots of rain.

I took the pictures between the downpours.

Little Bedwyn -> Oak Hill

So after the dramas of the day, I’ve moved on, from Little Bedwyn to Oak Hill.

In case you didn’t read the previous post, which contained some incorrect information, I’ll explain a little about what happened.

1) My car had no Tax and I had no log book

They no longer provide physical tax disks, and you have no idea when they’re going out of date without consulting the documentation. I’m not sure where this is, it may be in Lt Haywood.

I don’t know.

When I was in Newbury picking my bike up I was approached by a guy in the car park.

[su_quote]”Is this your car” – “er, yah” “Are you aware that you’re driving without vehicle tax?” – “er, no” “According to our records, this vehicle is not taxed and you can’t drive it on the road”[/su_quote] After some searching for documents. [su_quote]”Been off-roading?” – “I live on a boat, have to go down little lanes sometimes”[/su_quote]

This may have swung things in my favour.

Eventually he drove off… He gave me an hour to get home and get my documents, which I did not have.

I’ve no idea where they are.

Had to apply for some more £25.

Also had to pay for some tax £88.

2) My bike went missing

First it was there, then it was gone.

I only went up the canal to turn the boat around. Continue reading “Little Bedwyn -> Oak Hill”

Great Bedwyn -> Little Bedwyn

Not that far, as you’d think. Further than a lot of people move.

Seems to be a lock is enough in this neighbourhood.

Did consider following the crowd and just moving to a spot that I’d been to before. But Little Bedwyn is fine.

You’ve got to move and this is a good a place as any.

Little BedwynThis is what it looks like looking out of my window at the moment.

2 Leisure boaters went through at the same time and the pound is a little empty.

Wiley Fox Swift 2

I’ve got a new phone.

My Galaxy was feeling a little beaten up, it’s something I’ve had for 2 years or so.

It sometimes makes an annoying notification noise continuously when charging.

It doesn’t have 4G. Continue reading “Great Bedwyn -> Little Bedwyn”
