Bonny Journey – Day 4 – Audlem to Church Minshull

IMG_1501

Not an eventful day.

Not a massive amount of sailing.

Dropped into Nantwich, which is a nice market town, for a spot of lunch and some shopping.

Bumped into Peter Ainsworth, whose brother I went to university with.

He shouted down the street at the TOP of his voice.

I generally tend to ignore people shouting at me, until I’m IMG_1502sure it’s me they’re shouting at!

Turns out this time they were shouting at me!

Stopped for a chat, which went on some time. Then bumped into some other people I used to know! Tony and Clair, Tony was my GP at one point when I lived in Cheshire, and they were both members of amateur dramatics society which was popular in the village I used to live in.

Very exciting.

All before Aldi too, could hardly contain myself. Continue reading “Bonny Journey – Day 4 – Audlem to Church Minshull”

Bonny Journey – Day 3 – Gnosall to Audlem

Made it though and to the other side of the 15 locks by the close of the day.

Cooked myself a stir-fry, and have settled down for the night to write the blog.

Navigation Inn, GnosallGnosall, Navigation Inn

I started out from the Navigation Inn in Gnosall, where I filled the water-tank. As luck would have it, it was directly outside my front door.

Got this done, and most of my chores by about 7.20am. Continue reading “Bonny Journey – Day 3 – Gnosall to Audlem”

Bonny Journey – Day 2 – Calf Heath to Gnosall

Onto day two.

Woke up early, about 5, before the sun had come up.

Went back to sleep again.

BESTEK 2000W Power Inverter

The inverter was still working after a night. Got to watch TV in the morning, always good.

Tried to microwave my porridge using the inverter. Didn’t quite work… The video shows the explosion and the flames all over the cabin, (only joking mum).

I’d say on an average morning, my morning chores list on the boat looks like this:- Continue reading “Bonny Journey – Day 2 – Calf Heath to Gnosall”

Bonny Journey – Day 1 – Saturday 27th August

So….

I’ll be travelling as far north as I possibly can before running aground. Then I will travial to the northern reaches of Scotland.

From here, from the small town of John O’Groats, I shall begin my journey down, using methods only of my own means, toward Lands End.

Bonny Journey

I’ve no idea how long it will take, but it seems a bit crazy, so I thought I ought to do it. Continue reading “Bonny Journey – Day 1 – Saturday 27th August”

Cloudflare slowing my site down causing it to timeout

Cloudflare is a popular CDN, or content distribution network, which comes bundled with my web hosting package.

I’ve been using them for a couple of years.

No problems.

Last week, I suddenly found I was no longer to create new posts in wordpress.
None of the tool panels were rendering. I was not able to see the java applet window that I’m currently typing in. The user interface was basically busted.
